Optimization of Reorganization Processes for the Logistics System of EYATH S.A. logistics System of ΕΥΑTH S.A.

In the context of the project, a study was conducted aiming the improvement of procedures taking place at EYATH's warehouse , in the area of Kalochori Thessaloniki. In the aforementioned context, actions were taken concerning the analysis of the processes regarding to inventory management and the identification of those processes that are time-consuming, have a high error rate, and hold potential for improvement. Additionally, the study aimed to the improvement of the workflow, which includes optimizing the layout of products within the warehouse in order to reduce the time required to locate them. Additionally, staff training was conducted to ensure that tasks are performed efficiently and accurately. Specifically, the study analyzed proposals for improving the operation of the EYATH S.A. logistics system which concern: (a) the placement of materials based on criteria such as turnover rate, volume-weight ratio, and index of cube-per-order, (b) the designation and placement of pickinglocations, (c) analysis of the requirements for the procurement and installation of automatic identification and data acquisition systems for materials and storage locations, (d) design, standardization, and documentation of storage procedures for product receipt, inspection of received products, organization /reorganization and storage of products, order picking, returns management, and inventory counting, (e) the modeling of processes using simulation software FlexSim and the examination of different implementation scenarios (what-if analysis) with the aim of continuous improvement, and (f) the brief training of staff on the proposed procedures.
