The scientific field of the Undergraduate Program aims to address the growing professional demands and scientific challenges arising from the modern and ever-evolving field of Logistics and Supply Chain Management. The Department’s primary concern is to deliver this scientific field at a high academic level, providing students with the knowledge and tools needed to meet the needs of the contemporary professional environment in supply chain management. In this context, the Department of Supply Chain Management recognizes the intention of the International University of Greece, as outlined in the Institution's Quality Policy, to be a pillar of excellence in education and research. This involves emphasizing internationalization, leveraging research outcomes, promoting teaching and learning innovation, fostering entrepreneurship, and connecting the Institution with society.
A key component of the strategy for achieving the academic and research goals of the Undergraduate Program is the development and implementation of quality processes, as well as data analysis using quality tools. The quality policy of the Department of Supply Chain Management aims to continuously and systematically ensure, improve, and enhance the quality of the Undergraduate Program and the supporting services of the academic unit.
Specifically, to implement the Quality Policy, the Department of Supply Chain Management is committed to applying quality processes that will ensure:
- The suitability of the structure and organization of the curriculum
- The pursuit of learning outcomes and qualifications in accordance with the European and National Frameworks for Higher Education Qualifications
- The promotion of the quality and effectiveness of teaching activities
- The appropriateness of the qualifications of the teaching staff
- The promotion of the quality and quantity of the research output of the academic unit's members
- The methods of linking teaching with research
- The demand level for the qualifications obtained by graduates in the job market
- The quality of the Department's support services, such as administrative services, academic services (e.g., library, laboratories), and student support services
- The conduct of the annual review and internal audit of the quality assurance system for the undergraduate program, as well as the collaboration between the Department's Internal Evaluation Team (I.E.T.) and the Quality Assurance Unit (Q.A.U.) of the Institution
The Department of Supply Chain Management, to support the quality processes of the Undergraduate Program, establishes and operates the following Committees and Working Groups:
- Undergraduate Program Committee (UPC) for the design and review of the structure of the program and the content of the courses
- Internal Evaluation Team (I.E.T.) for the evaluation of the program and the courses offered
- Strategic Planning Committee (SPC) for the development of the Department of Supply Chain Management's five-year strategic plan
Within their responsibilities, the above Committees and Working Groups, in collaboration with faculty members, administrative staff, and the Department’s General Assembly, undertake the continuous monitoring, evaluation, and revision of the program. The monitoring and evaluation processes include:
- Internal monitoring of the curriculum using appropriate quality tools for data collection and analysis
- External monitoring of scientific developments and research trends, as well as related curricula of similar departments in Greece and abroad
The results of monitoring and evaluation, combined with the Internal and External Evaluation of the Academic Unit, serve as the main inputs for the development of the Department’s Strategic Plan and the revision of the program.
The Quality Policy is published:
- Through informing current and newly admitted students during their studies
- Through information provided in lectures, seminars, and informational events aimed at promoting the program
- Through information provided during interactions with collaborating institutions, companies, organizations, and agencies
- Through a dedicated link on the Department’s website
In the context of implementing the Quality Policy and in full alignment with the Strategic Planning of the International University of Greece, the Department of Supply Chain Management has designed and established specific, objective, and measurable quality goals. To this end, the quality goals have been categorized into strategic axes, which are:
- Continuous Improvement of the Program / Enhancement of educational activities and strengthening of student performance
- Development of Human Resources
- Improvement of Research Activity
- Enhancement of Outreach and Internationalization of the Program
- Improvement of Physical Resources and Infrastructure
- Improvement of Engagement with the Local Community
